LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Laurel County mother has taken to Facebook to address her concerns over her child's homework assignment.

Laura Lewis has a 1st grader at London Elementary School and often reviews her daughter's assignments. But this past week a particular assignment didn't sit right with her, Laura found an assignment asking students to identify what "fat" is.

"I thought to myself they are going to look at it, and then look over at my daughter and say this you, you're fat. I don't want her to deal with that like I had to, cause it really hurts," said Laura Lewis.

Laura says she wishes they change the picture to show something other than a person in the future.

The school responded saying, "we have not had any parent report this concern to us. However, we are reviewing the curriculum to identify to concern."
