Lexington events kick off Christmas season

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — With Thanksgiving over, a couple of events in Lexington are ushering in the Christmas season.

The tree lighting festival presented by Immanuel Baptist Church is set for 3 p.m. Friday at Triangle Park on West Main Street.

Guests can enjoy ice skating, music and of course the lights.

Then, the Southern Lights Holiday Festival returns to the Kentucky Horse Park beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The lighted and animated figures represent the holiday season and culture of the Bluegrass.

The Southern Lights runs through Dec. 31. The driving route is open Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 5:30 to 10 p.m.

The cost per car holding up to seven people is $20 Monday through Thursday and $25 Friday through Sunday.
