LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington fire crews responded to a house fire on American Avenue Monday afternoon that reportedly displaced two adults.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 280 block of American Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. and arrived on scene three minutes later to find heavy fire conditions, according to fire officials.
Crews first attempted an interior attack but were forced to switch to defensive operations due to deteriorating structural conditions and safety concerns, officials reported. The defensive strategy also helped protect nearby properties from fire spread.
No injuries have been reported. Two adults were displaced by the fire and the cause remains under investigation once the scene is stabilized, according to officials.
The fire response is still active.
This is a developing story and LEX 18 will have additional information as it becomes available.
