LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton is not planning on canceling trick-or-treating this Halloween.

City officials say they are looking at ways for children to enjoy trick-or-treating while keeping children safe.

"The governor is planning to put out some information so that children can have a safe Halloween," said Susan Straub, Director of Communications for the Mayor's Office. "We are waiting on that announcement to discuss details of plans for Lexington."

In Los Angeles, city leaders initially announced traditional trick-or-treating would not be allowed this Halloween due to COVID-19 risks. The city later backtracked slightly, now simply recommending against the annual event.
