LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The 25th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive at Crossroads Church in Lexington is underway.

The goal is to help feed 100,000 families in need in the Lexington and Cincinnati areas.

Anyone can come and get a box, and each box has a shopping list that would help feed 10-12 people.

You would then need to return the box to the church the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Partners with the church, like schools and non-profit organizations, will then hand out the food to families who are in need this holiday season.

"With a lot more people out of work and a lot of uncertainty that there is a lot more need. and really this is just a simple way we for us to kind of take the pressure off of figuring out a thanksgiving meal. you know everybody is doing a thanksgiving meal and this is a way for us to step in and help," said Brent Barger.

"This year has been a really hard year for people and it feels good to be able to give those who may not have the resources to have an opportunity to sit down at the table with their family and just have a day to celebrate," said Kim Fultz, a volunteer.

Boxes are available at the church daily from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. The Lexington Crossroads Church is located at 4128 Todds Rd.
