LEXINGTON. KY. (LEX 18) — A local musician and activist is once again on a mission to sure every kid in Kentucky has a warm coat this winter.

Devine Carama with Believing in Forever Inc. is holding his 6th Annual “A Coat To Keep The Cold Away” youth coat drive.

Right now he says schools, churches, and parents who need jackets can contact his organization for help.

Carama says since Monday they've already received hundreds of requests.

He hopes to provide brand new coats for about 3,000 kids.

“Giving them a brand new coat it does empower them and make them feel special, but then also it's a type of service and we hope that they'll want to pay that forward one day,” said Carama.

Carama says this year they received a $2,000 grant from Macy's to help with the coat drive, but they need more sponsors.

If you're interested in helping you can find an e-mail address and other contact information on their website: http://www.believinginforever.com/

In November they'll start accepting donations from the public.
