LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — During the holidays, local restaurant Bourbon N' Toulouse usually does a special promotion like buy a $25 gift card and get a bonus $5 gift card free.
But this year, Bourbon N' Toulouse Co-owner Kevin Heathcoat says that didn't seem like enough.
"We hate to see the struggles that are going on with the employees and the owners of restaurants in the Lexington community right now," Heathcoat said. "Especially this time of year, being that it's Thanksgiving and then we are moving into the holidays. It's a really tough time for mandates to be issued and restaurants to be struggling."
With so many restaurants struggling, which impacts so many people in the industry, from owners, to cooks, to servers, Heathcoat decided to team up with Nourish Lexington, Powered by FoodChain. This year, for every $25 gift card purchased, he will donate two free meals.
To keep local restaurants in business, Heathcoat says we all have to do our part.
"It's going to be a very tough winter for the industry and it's going to take the whole community to get us all through."
