LONDON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Controversial London Mayor Randall Weddle and Matt Orr will face off in the general election this fall.
Weddle won a tight primary race, edging out Orr by just 11 votes. Former interim Mayor Traci Handley also ran in the primary.
The city council impeached Weddle last September. Council members appointed Handley to take his place at that time. A court order reinstated Weddle 24 days later.
Weddle released a statement following Tuesday's win.
"This campaign has never been about politics for us , it has always been about the people of this city and continuing to move London forward," Weddle said. "Tonight’s results show that many people believe in the progress we have made together and the vision we have for the future."
