VERSAILLES, Ky (LEX News) — After more than six decades serving Central Kentucky, Jack Kain Ford and its Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center in Versailles have been sold to Joe O'Brien and Mason Moore, owners of O'Brien Ford in Shelbyville.

The sale marks the end of family ownership for one of the region's longtime automotive dealerships and begins a new chapter under the O'Brien organization.

In a news release, the Kain family said choosing a buyer was about more than completing a sale. They wanted someone who shared the values the dealership was built on and would continue serving customers, employees and the community with the same commitment.

Joe O'Brien and his team were selected because of their reputation for honesty, fairness and customer service, according to the release. The family also noted that dealership founder Jack Kain knew and respected O'Brien.

"Selling a family business is not simply a financial decision," General Manager Bob Kain said. "We wanted to know that whoever came next would appreciate what has been built here and would continue to treat people the way Dad believed they should be treated."

Mason Moore, who will become managing partner and general manager of the Versailles dealership, said he understands the responsibility that comes with following a business that has served the area for generations.

"Jack Kain Ford has a long history in Versailles and has earned tremendous loyalty from its customers and the community," Moore said. "Our goal is to earn their trust and continue providing the kind of honest, courteous and fair treatment they have come to expect."

The Kain family also thanked generations of customers and employees who helped build the dealership's legacy.

"From customers who bought their first car from our father to families who have purchased vehicles from us for three and even four generations, we can never adequately express what that loyalty has meant to our family," the family said in the release.

The sale includes both Jack Kain Ford and the Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center. The dealership is expected to begin operating as O'Brien Ford Versailles on Oct. 1, 2026.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
