ST. JOHN, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (LEX 18) — Police are searching for a missing Louisville woman who went missing last Thursday in the U.S. Virgin Islands, officials said.

According to a news release from the Virgin Islands National Park, 48-year-old Lucy Schuhmann went missing Sept. 19 on St. John.

A missing person's page has been set up for Schuhmann on Facebook.

Officials said the host of the Airbnb where Schuhmann was staying reported her missing after she failed to check out on schedule.

According to the release, Schuhmann's belongings were found in the room and her rental Jeep later was found in a parking lot near the Salt Pond area.

A search of the area turned up day pack that belonged to Schuhmann on a trail.

Officials said additional ground and water searches were planned, but the approach of Hurricane Karen threatened to complicate those plans.

Park officials asked anyone with information about the case to call 866-995-8467, option 2.
