A MAN IS CHARGED IN FEDERAL COURT IN LEXINGTON, accused of running a number of scams that allegedly netted him hundreds of thousands of dollars. — A man is charged in federal court in Lexington, accused of running a number of scams that allegedly netted him hundreds of thousands of dollars.

34 year-old Ismaila Fafunmi is charged with conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering.

According to a statement by the officer investigating his case, the suspect allegedly posed as a soldier on a dating site and convinced a woman to send him roughly $200,000.

He is also accused of messaging a Kentucky woman on Facebook, and convincing her to send him $183,000 in order to apply for a grant program.

When he was arrested in Indiana on Wednesday, investigators say they found him with numerous bank cards, blank checks and ID's belonging to other people.

Fafunmi is currently being held in the Grayson County Jail.
