MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police troopers located around $30,000 worth of tools that were taken from a mine site in Middlesboro.

KSP received the call from Contract Highwall Mining and said that several different types of tools were taken from the site. Troopers said their investigation led them to the residence of 42-year-old James Lay, of Frakes. There, they located several items stolen from the site. After a further search they recovered around $30,000 of tools that were taken.

Lay was arrested and charged with theft over 10,000 and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center. An arrest warrant was also served on him for receiving stolen property.
