HARRODSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — Mercer County High School Head Soccer Coach Garrett Stark died in a car accident on Tuesday.
According to the Boyle County Sheriff's Office, Stark was driving a blue SUV that rear-ended a garbage truck. The garbage truck that was struck was behind another garbage truck, shielding traffic from the right hand lane. Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the accident.
Stark, a native of Newport Beach, California, moved to Lexington in 1985. He was the head coach of the MCHS soccer team since 2013. During a three-year span from 2015-18, Stark led the Titans to the KHSAA State Soccer Tournament three straight seasons.
He was also an assistant coach at Campbellsville University Harrodsburg.
