WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) — The mother accused of burning her 10-month-old foster child in Clark County is facing new abuse charges.

Ashley and Ronald Neal were indicted Monday on criminal abuse charges.

Earlier, Ashley Neal was arrested after allegedly being caught on surveillance video pouring hot chocolate on the baby, then attempting to make it look like she was bracing herself from falling.

Deputies said a medical exam revealed that the child had several injuries over several months, but the Neals failed to get treatment for the child and attempted to cover them up.

The infant was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital for burn treatment. The child suffered burns to his head and face.
