LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two men charged with murder in a December attack appeared in a Fayette County courtroom Friday.
William Justus and Mervil Spencer are accused of killing Michael Coyle, 59. The charges stem from a Dec. 14 fight on Bayou Court. Coyle died from his injuries New Year's Day. A friend of the victim's says that the two men were fighting outside his apartment when Coyle grabbed a machete and told them to take their argument elsewhere.
That's when friends say Justus and Spencer attacked Coyle who ultimately died from his injuries a couple of weeks later.
Both defendants were appointed public defenders. They're due back in court on Feb. 17.
