(LEX 18) — Daniel Cameron, the Republican candidate for Kentucky attorney general, has survived a challenge to his candidacy.

“I’m not surprised we won but I’m thrilled to put this frivolous lawsuit behind us," Cameron said in a statement.

The Kentucky Republican Party praised the ruling, which denied a challenge to Cameron's eligibility based on the question of whether he has been a practicing lawyer long enough.

"Daniel Cameron is an experienced attorney with a strong record of accomplishment and vision for moving our state forward," said Mike Lonergan, spokesman for the Republican Party of Kentucky. "We're pleased to see the judge ruled that this election should be decided by the voters."

Cameron faces Democrat Greg Stumbo in the Nov. 5 election.
