Pedestrian dies after crash on New Circle Road

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man has died following an early Wednesday morning collision on the city's south side, officials said.

Police said the collision occurred about 7:20 a.m. on the ramp to Richmond Road off outer New Circle Road. The ramp was closed for several hours to allow investigators to reconstruct the scene.

According to authorities, the driver of the car told police the pedestrian, identified as Bishnu Prasal Sapkota, ran in front of his vehicle and caused the crash. Officials said the cause remains under investigation.

Sapkota was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

Sapkota was a native of Nepal. He was 58-years-old.

Authorities said several people reported the collision via 911 calls, and they are urging anyone with information about it to call Lexington police.
