DANVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Danville police have arrested a woman after they say she abandoned her two young children on the side of the Bypass.
The incident happened Tuesday morning. According to the a press release from the department, officers found two young boys, ages 9 and 11, that had been dropped off in the area of Lebanon Road and the Danville Bypass, allegedly by their mother.
Authorities say that Erica J. Girdler, 31, of Indiana dropped the children off on the way to visit family in Somerset.
Girdler was arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, two counts of abandonment of a minor, and possession of a controlled substance first-degree (methamphetamine.)
The children were removed from Girdler's custody and placed with family members.
