Police continue to investigate 2 Christmas homicides

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police had a busy Christmas holiday after two homicides occurred in the city.

The first happened on Christmas Eve near the campus of the University of Kentucky. According to the coroner's office, Jonathan Meristil was shot and killed at The Square Apartments.

The following day, one person was killed in a shooting in Cardinal Valley. The victim has been identified as Bertin Garcia-Jimenez, 23.

Police have not made an arrest in either case.
