LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Laurel Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent drowning that occurred Thursday morning near London.
Police said area residents found the victim, identified as 52-year-old Jeffery Whitis, of London, unresponsive at about 7:44 a.m. in a pond off Hatcher Road.
Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling pronounced the victim deceased a short time later.
Laurel County Sheriff's Detective Robert Reed Along with the Laurel County Coroner's office continues to investigate the death.
