Police investigating officer-involved shooting at fatal crash scene

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (MTN) — Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred at the scene of a fatal car crash which happened earlier Tuesday in Pike County.

According to Mountain Top News, troopers shot a person at the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash in the Shelby Gap area in Pike County. Officers confirm the shooting was the result of a chase that originated in nearby Elkhorn City.

The shooting happened yards away from the crash, according to Kentucky State Police.

The condition of the person shot by police was not available, nor were details about what led to the shooting. Kentucky State Police Post 9 spokesperson Trooper William Petry confirmed that the shooting was not related to the crash.
