Preston Madden dead at 85

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Friends are confirming the death of Lexington horseman and businessman Preston Madden.

Madden died at his home on Tuesday after battling an illness. He was 85 years old.

Madden managed Hamburg Place Horse Farm which was originally founded in 1898. The horse farm was famous for its legacy of racehorses, including the first Triple Crown Winner, Sir Barton.

Madden was married for 62 years to Anita Madden who was famous for Derby Eve parties.

Madden's son, Patrick, developed Hamburg Place into a thriving commercial corridor.
