LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Demonstrators gathered in downtown Lexington to have a Pride March in solidarity with Black Lives Matter protesters.
The Lexington Pride community members say it was an opportunity to remind people they can continue their fight for equity while supporting the BLM community simultaneously.
"It doesn't matter if you're not black of LGBTQ, this still affects you in such a way that if one of us is down, the rest of us is going down," said Wanda McCants of the Pride Community Services Organization. "We have to start acknowledging that privilege wherever we are and start building allyships, build bridges together rather than separate more because one issue seems to be more important than another."
