LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington's Recycling Center is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, after being shut down for nearly two weeks to allow for equipment upgrades.

Susan Straub, spokeswoman for Mayor Linda Gorton, confirmed Monday that recycling would resume at the center following installation of a new conveyor belt and fire protection system.

The upgrades are part of a $2 million investment into the recycling center, which began earlier this year.

Despite the upgrades, paper recycling -- excepting corrugated cardboard -- remains unavailable until further notice.
