LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky's regional Kroger vaccine clinics will be closed Thursday as an ice storm is predicted to hit the state this week.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced the closure of the clinic at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington as well as Kroger locations in Bowling Green and Covington at his COVID-19 briefing Tuesday. The appointments will be re-scheduled.
"If you have waited a long time to get this appointment, I'm really sorry, but I also don't want to put you out on the roads with thick amounts of ice when if you wear your mask and you're careful this next week, we'll get you vaccinated," Gov. Beshear said.
Ephraim McDowell Health has cancelled its vaccine clinic Wednesday and will re-schedule those appointments as well, according to a Facebook post.
Sarah Wilkerson's 81-year-old grandmother was scheduled to receive her vaccine from Ephraim McDowell in Danville tomorrow and said she was already contacted to reschedule as of Tuesday evening.
"She's glad that she doesn't have to get out in the weather tomorrow and it's a win-win for her," Wilkerson said.
UK Healthcare announced early Wednesday morning that its vaccination clinic will be closed Wednesday.
