Saturday COVID-19 update: 3,892 new cases, 23 new deaths

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — With one more day left to report this week, Governor Andy Beshear says we've set another new record of weekly COVID-19 cases.

On Saturday, December 5, the governor's office reported 3,892 new cases. There have been 198,065 cases reported in Kentucky since the pandemic was first detected here on March 6.

The positivity rate is up to 9.80%.

The number of COVID-positive in-patients in Kentucky hospitals is now 1,731. 401 of those are currently in the ICU, and 226 are on a ventilator.

23 more Kentuckians have died after contracting COVID-19. The death toll is now 2,062.
