SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Scott County were seeking a suspect who fled a traffic stop early Monday morning after a man driving on Interstate Highway 75 early Monday morning was found to have been shot in the arm.

Scott County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Eddie Hart said in a news release that deputies pulled a vehicle over about 3 a.m. for reckless driving. The deputies then discovered the driver had a gunshot wound to one arm.

However, as the deputies called for medical help for the driver, Hart said the passenger fled the vehicle near the Pilot Travel Center and McDonalds on Cherry Blossom Way in Georgetown.

Georgetown police brought out a K-9 unit, but were unable to track down the suspect, Hart said. Police continue to look for the man, who they said had long dreadlocks and was wearing a red jacket.

Hart said the driver is an Ohio resident and was not cooperating with police. He said the man's gunshot wound appeared to be several days old.
