LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police and fire crews were on the scene Saturday morning after a security vehicle crashed through a wall and fell three stories from a parking garage.
The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. at a parking deck for St. Joseph Hospital along Waller Avenue.
Police said a security guard lost control of his vehicle and crashed trough a retention wall, falling three stories.
Authorities said the guard was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police attributed that to the driver wearing a seat belt.
Part of the wall that was hit was hanging off the building.
Hospital officials said the garage was being evacuated as a precaution while crews remove the vehicle from the scene.
"The fire department has assessed the structural integrity of the building and determined it is intact," spokeswoman Mary Branham said in a statement. "When the cleanup is completed, sections of the garage not affected by the accident will be reopened."
