LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Southeastern Crush 10U baseball team is celebrating a world championship after completing an undefeated run at the Cal Ripken World Series in Stafford, Virginia.
The Lexington-area team spent 10 days competing against top teams from across the country and capped off the tournament with a dramatic comeback victory in the championship game.

Trailing Berkeley Heights, New Jersey 4-0, the Crush battled back to score five unanswered runs and claim a 5-4 win, securing the Cal Ripken World Series title.
Manager Leo New said the championship was the reward for months of hard work and dedication from the players.
“The hard work finally paid off. They've been—I mean, they get up at 4 a.m. if we had an early seed at Elizabethtown and drove an hour and a half, an hour and 45 minutes to get to E-town to get there by 7 a.m. Who wants to do that on a Saturday? They do,” New said.
The championship marks the first Cal Ripken World Series title for a Southeastern 10U team since 2011.
