LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) — When fans think of Jared Lorenzen's storied career at Kentucky, it is the seven overtime classic against Arkansas that probably comes to mind, so it was a no-brainer that when the Cats once again face the Razorbacks on Saturday to honor #22's legacy.

"Giving it a little bit of time after his passing and making it the Arkansas game would allow us to create the kind of atmosphere that I think Jared would have wanted, " Guy Ramsey, director of strategic communications for UK Athletics, said.

Ramsey said Lorenzen's passing is still felt everyday within the program, so to honor him they want to do something special. Fans will see various tributes on Saturday all for the beloved quarterback known as The Hefty Lefty.

"The first thing fans will see when they come through the gate is we'll have a commemorative rally towel for them that is for Jared, " Ramsey said.

Ramsey urged fans to get to their seats early for a very special pre-game tribute. He said expect to see Lorenzen's family and former teammates on the field.

"We're hoping to create a really special moment right before the game starts. I won't share complete details because you want it to be a little bit of a surprise, but we really want fans to be in their seats early so they can create the kind of atmosphere that Jared would have wanted, " Ramsey explained.

Ramsey said there will be a tinge of sadness as they honor a life lost too soon, but more than anything they want Saturday to be a fun and loud that Jared would love.

"I think we really want it to be a celebration of who Jared was, how much he loved the place, who he was as a player and the legacy he leaves behind, and really show his family how much he meant to us, " Ramsey said.
