LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — For the first time in months, a festival was held in downtown Lawrenceburg.
But things were a little different this year.
Stave Festival showcases booths by local artists, food vendors, and live music.
Mayor Troy Young says they weren’t sure if they would be able to have the event safely but they spaced out booths, and participants wore masks.
He’s happy they found a solution to have it safely because he knows how beneficial it is for local artists and businesses who are struggling right now.
“It’s really hard on our brick and mortar stores down here so we placed the booths down here to make sure that we also highlight our downtown businesses, whether it’s an ice cream shop or a business so they get a lot of traffic from it," said Young.

Susan Burge is a local artist, and she says she’s had to get creative to stay afloat right now so any business is appreciated.
“We need everybody to shop local and small. As small businesses it’s tight, it’s really tight, so if they can come out and support a local business that’s the best thing," said Burge.
Tricia Crowe says it’s also nice to get out and socialize with people they haven’t seen in a while.
"Even if we are wearing masks and socially distancing. at least we are out-and-about trying to have some normalcy going on. So it’s been very good to see people I haven’t in a long time," said Crowe.
