FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — In Sunday's update, the governor's office announced 1,509 new cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky.

That brings our state's total to 257,063.

21 more people have died from the virus as well.

That means more than 2,500 Kentuckians have died after contracting COVID-19 since the pandemic started.

The state's positivity rate is now 8.6%.

Kentucky's incidence rate map is improving as more counties are coming out of the critical red zone.

Just last Wednesday, 117 of Kentucky's 120 counties were red. Currently, that number is 107.
