FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — On Sunday, the governor's office announced 2,860 new cases of COVID-19.
The state's daily report also shows 25 more Kentuckians have died after contracting COVID-19.
The death toll from the pandemic is now 2,723.
The positivity rate has increased to 11.12%, up from 10.79% on Saturday.
The governor says on Monday, we should expect an explanation on the increasing positivity rate.
The state’s elevated positivity rate is likely due to some labs and public testing sites being closed over the holiday, which increases the percentage of tests conducted in medical settings where patients are experiencing symptoms and suspect they have the virus.
