LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police have identified the man accused of shooting and injuring two officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department.

26-year old Larynzo D. Johnson, of Louisville, is charged with two counts of first-degree assault on a police officer and 14 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.

The officers were shot shortly before 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Brook Street and Broadway while trying to disperse a crowd. At the time, people were protesting the grand jury decision to not criminally charge any of the officers in Breonna Taylor's death.

The arrest report says Johnson used a handgun to fire at police multiple times before running from the scene. A witness pointed Johnson out to police who took him into custody at the Thornton's at 100 W. Broadway. Police say they have video of the shooting that shows Johnson firing at police officers.

Johnson is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.
