LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington Police have arrested a 16 year-old-male in connection with the death of another teen Tuesday afternoon.
It happened around 3:00 p.m. in the area of Woodhill Drive and Hedgewood Court. Police say they found Ladonya Bennett, 16, with a gunshot wound.
He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Officers say they found that the suspect, victim and others were hanging out on Hedgewood Court when the shooting happened. One teen has been charged with reckless homicide, possession of a handgun by a minor and tampering with physical evidence. Three other teens in the group have also been charged with possession of a handgun by a minor and tampering with evidence.
The shooting suspect is currently being held at the Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
