LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police report that three teenage boys have been charged in connection with a weekend carjacking and home invasion.

The 16, 15, and 14-year-old suspects are each charged with Robbery 1st, Fleeing/Evading 1st, and Receiving Stolen Property (Auto).

Police say that at 4:20 a.m. Saturday morning, officers responded to the Cook Out restaurant on South Broadway for a reported robbery. The victim said he was sitting in his vehicle when two people approached him, pointed a gun at him, and demanded the vehicle.

The victim got out of the vehicle and the suspects drove away.

Around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, officers say they were dispatched to a home on Golfview Drive for a robbery. The victims told police that several male subjects armed with handguns entered the home and demanded money.

A witness stated that he saw several individuals leave the area in three vehicles, one of which fit the description of the car stolen at Cook Out.

An officer located the vehicle about two hours later. He confirmed it was the same vehicle that was stolen the day prior and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, eventually stopping on Jennifer Road, according to police.

The three juvenile suspects were detained, questioned, and charged in connection to the incidents that occurred on Golfview and in the parking lot of Cook Out.

The suspects are currently housed in the Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
