GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) — On April 8, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) announced that it would extend their suspension of production at all North American Manufacturing facilities. The plan was to re-open on Monday, May 4.
On Thursday, TMMK told their employees that the plan is still to re-open on May 4.
TMMK released the following statement to its employees on Thursday:
"Toyota is announcing all North American Manufacturing and support facilities will return to work with production gradually starting on Monday, May 4. Transportation, including critical manufacturing, is an essential industry, defined by federal and state governments, which provides mobility to so many, including medical providers, grocery store workers, and others. Returning to production allows us to maintain steady supply of products based on expected demand from our customers."
Additional steps such as health screenings and temperature readings are being taken by the company to ensure the work environment is as safe as possible.
