LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — VetIQ has built two veterinary wellness centers inside two Walmart locations, one on Nicholasville Road and the other on Grey Lag Road.

"Our environment is very open and transparent, so it's very inviting," VetIQ supervisor, Jessica Simpson, said. "We make sure that the pet and the parent are very comfortable."

These wellness centers have a licensed veterinarian on site who can perform lab work, testing and preventative care. They can also give vaccines, prescribe medication and give minor illness care.

VetIQ only allows cats and dogs.

According to a brochure, VetIQ "provides pet parents with the highest quality preventative veterinary care and wellness services with no appointments, no hidden fees and convenient locations to ensure your pet is healthy year-round."

Owners must stay with their pets during their stay at VetIQ. Kennels are available to owners who need to pick up a prescription at Walmart.

The wellness centers are not equipped to handle emergency situations, so owners must take their pet to a full-service veterinary clinic or pet hospital during those situations.
