Multiple Ky. schools close for rest of week due to widespread illness

(LEX 18) — School officials in Owsley, Lewis, and Wolfe counties have canceled classes for the rest of the week, citing widespread illness in the communities.

The Owsley County Board of Education said on its Facebook page that the schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and the days will be credited as NTI days.

The Wolfe County Board of Education said on its Facebook page that "widespread illness" was forcing it to close through Friday as well.

Lewis County also canceled for the rest of the week and will be utilizing NTI days as well.

Both schools noted that classes also will be out Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
