ATLANTA (LEX 18) — The Mega Millions jackpot is pushing further into record territory after no one matched all the numbers in Friday evening’s drawing.
With a new jackpot pegged at $654 million (with a cash option of $372 million), it’s already the fourth lottery jackpot on record and just a hair under the third highest payout.
With the promise of a big payout driving ticket sales, the jackpot total is likely to rise even higher ahead of the next drawing, which happens Tuesday night.
The winning numbers in Tuesday’s drawing were: 4-24-46-61-70, Mega Ball: 7, Megaplier: 3.
The chance of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is 1 in about 303 million.
The other major multi-state lottery, Powerball, also has a major jackpot.
The current jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing is $314 million with a $179 million cash option.
The chase of winning the Powerball jackpot is 1 in about 292 million.
