ATLANTA (LEX 18) — How much higher can the nation’s two big multi-state lotteries go?

The Mega Millions jackpot — at $1.6 billion — already is the richest prize in U.S. lottery history.

And now Powerball has jumped to $620 million, after no one matched all the numbers in Saturday night’s drawing.

With the huge jackpots driving sales, both lotteries are likely to jump again ahead of this week’s drawings.

Saturday’s winning Powerball numbers were: 16-54-57-62-69; Powerball: 23: Power Play: 2.

The $620 million jackpot comes with a $354 million cash option.

While that’s a huge payout, it’s nearly a billion dollars less than the Mega Millions jackpot.

That lottery’s jackpot currently stands at a record-breaking $1.6 billion with a cash option of $904 million. It’s the largest U.S. lottery jackpot ever.

The next Mega Millions drawing is Tuesday night, with Powerball’s next drawing on Wednesday evening.

The chance of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is 1 in about 303 million. The chase of winning the Powerbal jackpot is 1 in about 292 million.
