According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, wildlife officers were helping local agencies check flooded residences when they were alerted to a fox on the porch of a home.

Apparently the fox had swam to a porch and took refuge as the flood waters were rising. The mother gave birth to six kits in the only dry place she could find and was trapped with the rising water.

Officers went to the residence and removed the mom and kits. They were successfully relocated to nearby dry land and placed in an abandoned den.

The family is doing well and have remained in the location they were released.
