Posted

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18 / NBC News) — Good news for drivers: Gas prices are down nationwide just in time for summer travel.

And the Lexington area has some of the lowest gasoline prices anywhere in the country.

The average gas price has dropped about 9 cents in the last few weeks, to $2.84 per gallon.

This is seen as a direct result of lower crude oil costs, according to industry analysts.

Kentucky is seeing some of the lowest prices at the pump. The state’s average is around $2.53 per gallon, according to the tech site GasBuddy.

Lexington’s average is the same as the state’s.

And several LEX 18 viewers have told us there are even bigger bargains at select gas stations around the area.
