HOLLANDALE BEACH, Fl. (LEX 18) — Horse racing remains one of the only sports still available to bettors, due to the coronavirus pandemic. For one gambler, it was a historic Saturday.
An unnamed bettor won the early pick-5 contest at Gulfstream Park in Florida, by correctly selecting the winners of the first 5 races.
On the 50-cent bet, the winner took home nearly $525,000.
The bettor cashed in the fifth-highest 50-cent pick-5 payout in North American history.
Gulfstream Park is currently closed to the public, but is still taking bets.
The track recently hosted the Florida Derby, as part of the road to the Kentucky Derby, which is currently scheduled for Saturday, September 5th.
