BATH COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — School officials in Bath County said Monday that the schools will let students out early in hopes of avoiding issue with floodwaters as heavy rains soak the region.

"All Bath County Schools will dismiss at 2 p.m. today due to rising water," said Bart Rison, the Bath County Schools transportation director.

Rison said district offials were "scrambling" to get the word out and were hoping to avoid serious problems getting students home.
