LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Drivers in Lexington should be aware that crane removal will affect traffic in downtown.

The two left lanes of West Main Street between Limestone and Upper streets will be closed 24-hours a day to allow for the removal of a crane that had been used to build structures in the City Center block.

The turn lane to South Upper will also be closed. The right lane on Main Street will remain open except for those times when the removal work requires the entire street to be closed for safety.

The lanes will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25. The closure may extend into Monday, August 26, if removal work is delayed. Motorists can take Rose Street to High Street to avoid the closure.

West Short Street between North Mill and North Upper streets will also be closed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25, to allow for the installation of a sculpture. Motorists can use Vine Street to avoid the closure.
