Registered sex offender arrested outside Pike Co. school

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (MTN/LEX 18) — A convicted sex offender was arrested after being caught in the parent pickup line at a Pike County School without permission.

According to Mountain Top News, Richard Bartley, 74, was caught in the line Monday afternoon following a tip given to a School Resource Officer at Shelby Valley schools. He is a registered sex offender.

Bartley has been convicted of rape and sexual abuse of a 7 year-old, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old.

Bartley was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on a charge of violating sex offender school restrictions. He was released Tuesday morning.
