Sheriff: 2 arrested after dog found injured, malnourished in Pulaski County

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office reports that two people were arrested after a dog was found injured and malnourished on Feb. 26 in Science Hill.

According to the sheriff's office, an investigation began after they received a report of a possibly mistreated dog.

The sheriff's office reports that detectives coordinated with Pulaski County Animal Control and the Humane Society to transport the dog to Somerset Animal Hospital for immediate treatment.

According to the sheriff's office, the dog had a "four-inch laceration to his neck where a chain and hook had embedded in his neck," which had to be surgically removed. As well as being malnourished, weighing only 35 pounds.

Detectives went to the home where the dog had been removed from and investigated the scene, along with conducting interviews, according to the sheriff's office.

As a result of the investigation, the sheriff's office says that arrest warrants were obtained for two people residing at the home, 23-year-old Caleb Martin and 22-year-old Cali Webster.

According to the sheriff's office, both were charged with torture of a dog or cat and booked in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash or property bond.

The sheriff's office reports that the dog was released from Somerset Animal Hospital and is currently being fostered.
