Man injured after allegedly breaking into home owned by Lexington firefighter

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington Police say a man was sent to the hospital following an incident on Whitney Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Other firefighters at the scene say it happened near a Lexington firefighter's rental home. According to officials, the property owner was notified of a squatter trying to break into his property.

Police say the property owner's gun fell to the ground during a chase and discharged. The suspect was injured during the chase and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials say the suspect was arrested and charged.
