FCPS cancels after-school activities Monday ahead of Trump rally

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Fayette County Public Schools have announced that they will cancel all after-school activities and practices on Monday, Nov. 4 due to the Presidential visit and the extreme traffic disruptions that will cause.

FCPS officials have been working with the Lexington Police Department in anticipation of the potential effect the President Trump's visit to Lexington will have on traffic around the city during dismissal times.

Normal dismissal procedures will remain in place, but any extra-curricular and co-curricular activities or extended-day programs, including practices, performances, games, clubs and meetings are cancelled.

After-school care programs operated at schools will remain open and be flexible with families delayed by traffic issues.

The Promise Academies at Harrison and William Wells Brown elementary schools will follow their Wednesday schedule and dismiss at 2:35 p.m.

Fayette County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 for election day.

In addition to FCPS, Sayre School will dismiss early on Monday, Nov. 4. The lower school will dismiss at 2:10 pm. and the middle and upper school, 2:30 p.m. Varsity teams may run optional practices, but all other athletic practices will be cancelled.
